T-Shirt
Redacted States of Israel | Bella + Canvas 3001
Fifty stars replaced. Thirteen stripes blacked out.
The flag redesigned to match the foreign policy. The redesign is the receipt.
THE STORY
The United States sends Israel $3.8 billion a year in military aid — a number set by the 2016 Memorandum of Understanding through 2028. The MOU has been topped up with emergency supplementals: $8.7 billion in the April 2024 Israel Security Supplemental Appropriations Act alone, on top of the regular FY2024 and FY2025 appropriations. The aid is approved. The voting record is public. The lobby that runs the show has a name — AIPAC — and its quarterly disclosures are filed at the FEC. None of this is conspiracy. All of it is documented.
THE RECEIPT
The American flag with the stars swapped and the stripes blacked out. The flag is the same shape because the arrangement is the same shape: a country whose foreign policy is, on the matter of one specific recipient, indistinguishable from the recipient's wishlist. The redactions are where the public record stops being public.
WHY THIS MATTERS
The bombs that the ICJ has called a plausible genocide are paid for in dollars from the country whose flag this shirt redesigns. The wearer is not commenting from a distance. The wearer is acknowledging the receipt of complicity and refusing to file it quietly.
WEAR IT
The march. The town hall. The polling place. The conversation about what your tax dollars are doing in someone else's country.
